It is the most wonderful time of the year – which if you have logged into social media over the past month (or own a calendar), you are well aware of. But what can we do to keep the holidays season feeling like, well, the holiday season? Let’s be festive people!
Wear the feathers and sparkle and shine. Bake the Christmas cookies and cinnamon rolls. Go and cut down THE Christmas tree with your family (or go and get the adorable Charlie Brown version from the tree stand nearest your apartment). What I’m trying to say is treat yourself – do you! Treating ourselves doesn’t always have to involve over indulgence though. It could be something as simple as taking 25 minutes of “me time”. Take a nap, have that glass of wine and unwind, read part of your favorite book – or you could go wild and watch all seven Harry Potter movies in chronological order (there is something uber festive about Hogwarts, isn’t there?). Make the DIY Christmas decoration you’ve been wanting to make for the past 3 years but haven’t had a chance, make peppermint bark and package it in festive wrap to give to your holiday party guests, wear a tiara and listen to Christmas music and embrace the inner domestic goddess that is even more present this time of year. You get what I’m saying – take some time to enjoy the holidays – whether that means taking a breather from the madness or really getting your hands dirty (with glitter and peppermint bits) and embrace it!
Happy holidays to you and yours! Don’t forget to hang the mistletoe.
