Happy hot and sweat NYFW you guys! I'm super excited for all of the fun events I have going on this week. I will be kicking off the week tonight with Shopbop and then the Fashion Media Awards hosted by Fashion Week Daily. Be sure to follow along on instagram for a behind the scenes look at the week!
Guys!! Finally posting this amazing pink dress that I discovered at the Shopbop style high event this spring. I have been living in it this summer - it’s so easy to dress up and down. I have worn it to rehearsal dinners and barbecues, so it has basically been living either on my body or in my carry on. But before I get fully lost in this look, let me explain my brief hiatus from posting here and give you all a little life update.
It’s HERE! My favorite week of the year! Fourth of July week has this special quality about it unlike any other time for me. There is just something about it - I can’t quite put it into words. The best analogy that I can think of is the feeling you had as a little kid about the tooth fairy, Santa, the Easter bunny etc. It’s *magic* !
It’s Officially Summer – So Naturally, I’m Dressed Like The 4th Of July
It’s officially summer… so naturally I’m dressed like the Fourth of July. It’s no secret by now that any combination of red, white and blue (especially involving a stripe) is my summer uniform. I never tire of it and don’t ever want to. That said, when I find something in one of those colors and it fits *perfectly* and is comfortable, I know it’s going to be loved and lived in.
If you follow me on Instagram you have probably seen by now that I have been living in these Sperry sneakers. They are the most comfortable sneaks that I have maybe ever worn. Which is saying something, since I have previously described sneakers as sleeping bags for your feet!
Guys!!! Sorry it has been a minute since my last post. I've been all over the place (Nantucket, Seattle, San Francisco, Amagansett, Montauk, oh yeah and NYC) over the past few weeks! But I'm back with this glorious *it's officially summer* post wearing my favorite color combo of the moment - pink and red. Oh and obviously wearing the most amazing denim jacket of all time that never leaves my bod!
How to wear the trend without looking like you're wearing a going out top circa 1998. Because let's be honest that look can be a tough pill to swallow. But crop tops - or belly shirts as I more affectionately call them - have been happening for awhile now. And I don't think they are going anywhere anytime soon. Two specific instances leading up to and over Memorial Day Weekend really got me thinking about this trend.
Embroidery is a trend that I am so into right now I am actually dreading its premature end. It is just so *happy*. It adds excitement to everything that it touches -- denim, footwear, jewelry - you name it. This past weekend I was on Nantucket for an epic summer kick off at Figawi. Which, if you follow me on social media, you are painfully aware of - I apologize for the newsfeed overload. BUT while I was there I wore a LOT of embroidery - including but not limited to my denim jacket (which you have seen here and here). Wearing this type of embroidery all over the island (as opposed to in NYC where people are so used to fashion in all of its forms that they could see someone walking down the street in a dinosaur costume and wouldn't think twice) made me realize something. Embroidery, in the way that I like to wear it, with the more is more mindset, is peacocking.
Today's topic is: clogs. Without a doubt a funny form of shoe – they aren't exactly attractive, but I wouldn't call them unattractive either. They definitely fall within the girl-cute category of apparel and accessories. No guy thinks that clogs are sexy footwear. At least no guys that I know. If you happen to know of any please, send them my way, I would love discuss this with them.

Ruffles in general are happening right now. They are popping up on shoes, as sleeves, you name it. I am very happy to embrace this fashion moment because I love a feminine over the top ruffle. This particular trend isn't everyone's cup of tea. So, for those of you who are not as into the frilly girly look, you can still get involved with the trend by wearing it in a more laid back way and adding some edge with studded leather and layers of jewels. Taking a super feminine fashion trend and making it feel a bit bad a** - can actually take it to the next level and make it even cooler.
