If you follow me on Instagram you have probably seen by now that I have been living in these Sperry sneakers. They are the most comfortable sneaks that I have maybe ever worn. Which is saying something, since I have previously described sneakers as sleeping bags for your feet!
I’m obsessed with this top from Shopbop. I discovered it at their #StyeHigh event this spring and couldn’t stop thinking about it. It’s like a Hawaiian shirt, crisp button down and peplum crop top all blended into one. There is so much going on in this one piece and it works magically. I have been really into over-the-top statement shirts recently. I find that when pulling together the rest of the look I always like them best paired back to denim. Wether it’s a cropped flare, skinny jean or Mom fit - an over-the-top shirt paired back to your most lived in blue jeans really gets me. I have a feeling I’ll be wearing a whole lot of that this summer.
There are many things that I love about a matching set. Quite possibly my favorite thing about them is how g-darn easy they make getting dressed. You pick out one thing and – BAM – you’ve got an *outfit*. And since we all know I live for accessories, it leaves plenty of time to jazz the heck out of the look with jewels. That means two wrists filled to the brim with bracelets, oversized raffia earrings and layered necklaces. Because when it comes to kewl jewelry more is more.
Frilly skirts have been one of my favorite things to style this season. I love how they can take an otherwise plain outfit to sunshine ready and downright *springy*. So I figured I'd share my top ten fave frilly skirts of the moment in today's post. Check it out!
Sometimes, for me, clothes and accessories have this way of making me feel nostalgic for or crave certain places or moments in time. And while wearing my Sperry boat shoes I constantly find my mind wandering to long summer days on the water and holiday weekends spent on Nantucket. So naturally, these shoes are pretty darn *happy*. If you are looking for the most comfortable shoes that are sure to be lived in all summer long then these are the ones for you!
I’ve been meaning to post this sweater for awhile now - you might remember seeing it on my insta stories. I got it a few months ago after a long search for the perfect rainbow striped sweater. For me, right now, rainbow stripes are to my winter wardrobe what red, white and blue stripes are to my summer wardrobe. The meat and potatoes, if you will.
I have been feeling for dark ground floral and paisley printed dresses for a few months now. And this one is my favorite. In addition to wearing it on Thanksgiving, I have worn it to dinner with my parents at Locanda Verde, to work, to the ballet and to a baby shower. Impressive right? I think that is how you know the worth of a piece of clothing. Unless it is an occasion piece - because hey, most people aren’t grabbing their black tie garb on the reg. But when you find yourself constantly pulling a certain piece out of your closet to wear to a wide range of occasions, you know that it is a staple! And more often than not, that also means that the purchase was worth it!
Happy New Year everyone! I don’t know about you but I am pretty psyched to ring in a new year with a fresh start! 2017 was a crazy year - the world seemed to be tearing apart at its seams. I am hoping that the new year will be, new. I am ready to welcome 2018 with open arms. You know what this means!
It’s resolution time - I have spent a lot of time thinking about my resolutions recently. I have a running list in one of my notebooks. But I have decided to highlight the ones that I keep going back to over and over again in my mind.
I’m channeling one of my favorite fictional characters of all time in this velvet number. That’s right! I drew my inspiration for this look from The Boy Who Lived - Mr. Harry Potter himself! It is no secret that I am a HUGE Harry Potter fan - I have read and re-read every book and own all of the movies. It is the story of my childhood that I have grown up with and continue to cherish as an adult. I know I am not alone in this. But using the characters from J. K. Rowling’s world or witchcraft and wizardry as sartorial inspiration is definitely something new to me.
Sometimes (ahem... every year) Black Friday sales can be super overwhelming. So this year I have combed through the chaos of sale notifications being forced at us. And I have narrowed it down to the best of the best (and even picked my favorite pieces!). Stress free shopping from the comfort of your couch! And don't forget about the leftovers - I'm having apple crumble and a grapefruit for breakfast! I hope that everyone had a safe, beautiful holiday spent with the ones you love.
I will be sharing more holiday recipes, shopping guides and most importantly heartfelt words over the next few weeks. But today, I bring you this dress. It is the unicorn of dresses, the holy grail if you will. I dare you to put on this dress and not twirl. HAH! I think it might actually be impossible not to feel like the belle of the ball in this dress.
Happy Saturday guys!! I have been having a love affair with fashion wovens for awhile now. Normally my favorites involve dramatic sleeve details or interesting necklines. While this shirt has neither of those things - it has something that most of my favorite fashion wovens do not - a kick a** back detail. Oh, and it’s *cropped*. I have worn this top dressed up - paired with a leather midi skirt or - wait for it - a pink feather skirt. And I have also worn it dressed down with jeans and a bomber jacket or my beloved camo jacket. I think that is one of my favorite things about woven tops with an over the top flair - their versatility!!
