TGIF people and happy almost summer weekend! Today I’m going to show you how to make a sick crop top out of a: wait for it… BLANKET. Yup, buckle up kids, because it’s about to happen.
Ok, fine, technically this is a beach blanket and not a quilt or full on duvet. But it’s a blanket nonetheless, and it’s the only thing currently keeping me from appearing to be in a nudist colony. So here it goes people:
You start out with the blanket or large scarf or pareo flat and fully unfolded. The first several steps mirror the how to DIY a scarf into a magical nearly backless crop top that you may remember seeing here. So, to recap, you fold the large square in half so it makes a large triangle. Then, you take the top ends of the triangle and twist them around each other several times before tying the ends in a square knot behind your neck. At this point you should look like you are wearing a super bizarre bib like cape. Exhibit A:
Now, to turn this into more of a crop top than something that very closely resembles the dress a toddler would draw on a stick figure, you fold a good portion of the fabric along bottom of the triangle underneath towards you. Like so:
Then you take the ends of the triangle and wrap them around your back like you are turning your mid section into something gift wrapped. Like this:
Next, you bring the ends of the triangle back so that they are in front of your stomach and tie them into a square knot:
Annnnd !BAM! just like that, we have turned a blanket into your new favorite shirt!
