Spring has arrived — *~ hEcK yEs*~.

But unfortunately Mother Nature is playing a little game of catch up and it’s not time to ditch your scarves and gloves quite yet. However, If you are itching to ceremoniously ditch some of your winter garb, I vote your winter jacket. Puffy coats be damned! It’s only wool, transitional fur (because that’s a thing, right?), and other denim/velvet/leather outerwear iterations from here on out. Wahooooooo spring!

In other spring-like fashion news, I am already starting to gravitate towards my summer uniform of Americana S T R I P E S. Although it’s barely hitting 50 degrees yet, so the early spring stripes are coming in the form of cashmere sweaters rather than airy dresses and crop tops. The latter will be coming at ya in high voltage come May. I’m also thrilled that Toast and I are both feeling for cashmere stripes right now, so I’ve got that going for me too.

But also, Princesses !!!

In other unrelated news, I saw Beauty and The Beast last night and… I. Loved. It. It was funny, engaging and all around magical. In full disclosure, I wrote my senior thesis in college on the traditional portrayal of Disney princesses and the impact that it has on society and cultural norms. So the film not only brought me back to my childhood, but it also had me thinking about the many things that I struggle with about the role of a “traditional” Disney princess.

I don’t want to ruin it for those of you who have yet to see it. But I will say that my favorite part of the remake was Emma Watson’s portrayal of Belle. Long gone are the days of a fragile princess in need of saving. The modern Belle is smart, defiant, and fearless — a champion. I found it so refreshing. So if you don’t have plans for the weekend and are into super hyped up Disney films, I highly recommend grabbing some popcorn and checking it out!

Happy day after national puppy day and happy Friday people! xx
