This past month I was talking to my mom about colors that I am really feeling for at the moment. Yellow is at the top of the list. Lately, I have found myself gravitating towards all things yellow. Like this shirt, which I have dubbed “vintage J. Crew”. I purchase it from J. crew sometime around 2008 — so, I think the name fits. It is one of those items that was sitting in the back of my closet for the past few years getting zero wear and then all of the sudden it was in constant rotation.
I love it when that happens.
Because more often that not, when I hold onto something that I’m not into at that moment but think that I should keep it on the off chance that I might, someday, maybe want to wear it again – it ends up collecting dust. But that is not the case with this sunny shirt.
The yellow that I am feeling for right now is a specific shade of yellow – or at least a specific family. It is a sunny, happy mustard yellow. Not a pastel yellow or creamy yellow. It is a golden honey yellow – and it rules. It is funny because this summer I couldn’t get enough of the color red – yes, ketchup red – and now I’m onto mustard yellow. What’s next, relish green?
Seriously though, that sounds kind of appealing.
But I digress — while I certainly don’t think millennial pink is going anywhere anytime soon, the colors that I want to live in this fall are yellow with a side of burgundy and denim blue.
Happy Tuesday kids! If you need me, you can find me shopping for mustard yellow sweaters and vintage denim. xx
