There is something about culottes. They are frumpy, unflattering, almost always make the wearer look like they were going for the borrowed-from-your-grandmother-look. But when done right there is nothing cooler. One thing that I love about fashion is how the same trend can be THE-coolest-ever and can be oh-so-tragic based entirely on the wearer’s execution. Culottes, for me, are one of these trends.

With the wide pleats and paired with this frilly blazer (that I nearly got rid of the last time I did a major closet clean out but kept because thought I may find just THE thing to wear it with – thank goodness I have such foresight) I think I’ve managed to put the cool in culottes. Plus, I was at dinner with some British family friends wearing these pleated pants and received so many compliments I felt like royalty. Even the way that they said culottes sounded chic. So I must be doing something right, right?

Happy almost weekend, you guys!
