So it’s no secret that summer is my favorite season. But recently my friend and I were talking about what our favorite season is to dress for. And I’m not going to lie, I have though about this before and I always feel like fall clothes should be my favorite because I work in fashion and have a blog. While I love lightweight fall layers, the first fall chill that allows to break out your favorite leather jacket and the feeling of sliding into those favorite fall booties after some time off due to the heat — summer dressing is and will probably always be my favorite. There’s just something about it. My love for summer clothes may be exaggerated by my serious love affair with the season itself but that doesn’t change the fact that dressing for summer speaks to my actual fashion soul.

That said, I try to do it big while I can.

Which for me, means dressing like I’m at the beach all. summer. long. Even though a large portion of my summer is spent in New York City. Yes, what I’m saying is that I have been dressing for the beach on the mean streets of New York City. This look is an example of said beach meets streets summer dressing. I literally wore this exact outfit to Ladies Beach over my Fourth of July vacation on Nantucket. I might not wear this exact outfit to my office. But I would 1000% wear it just about anywhere else a typical day in New York City might take me. Errands, morning coffee run, lunch with a friend, no biggie — this outfit will do.

If I wanted to wear it to my office I’d probably just throw a pair of jean shorts under it. Working in fashion does have the luxury of allowing for pretty expressive wardrobe choices. While I definitely wouldn’t recommend a bikini bottom as office garb, a girl can dream.

Try beach dressing in the city. I dare you.

It’s oddly liberating and has the added bonus of making an average Thursday feel like a trip to the beach. xx
