This jacket was a favorite purchase from over a year ago. I love everything about it – the fit, the embroidery detail, the colors. It’s so emotional and wearable. I live in it. I wear it to work as a jacket, the beach as a coverup and even sans bra all tied up as a shirt! You may remember seeing it from an old post here.
This summer, free people recolored this gem of a jacket – as brands often do with their best styles – in red and blue. And if you have been following my blog from the beginning, you know that red, blue (and white!) essentially take over my wardrobe in the summer. There is something so seasonable and patriotic about wearing those colors in summer even when done in a not so expected and nautical way. Although don’t get me wrong – I can get into a super nautical red white and blue look all summer long.
But I digress, Free People made this jacket in red and naturally I needed to have it.
The trouble was, so did everyone else who follows them on Instagram or shops in their stores. The jacket was sold out everywhere I looked. Finally, my friend and I stopped into their store on 5th avenue and were able to track down the jacket in a store in Texas. We ordered it on the spot and *bonus* the jacket arrived at my apartment the night before I left for Nantucket for the Fourth of July. It went right out of the box and into my suitcase and will surely be popping up on my site soon as well. I’ll be sure to hunt down similar styles for those of you into the look!
