Laying out this outfit reminded me of a funny habit from when I was little: I would always love to pick out my outfits at night for school the following morning. I would lay them out as if there were an imaginary person on the floor of my bedroom – pants below the shirt, shoes perfectly placed below each pant leg, hair bow and scarf above the shirt – you get the idea. And funny (or embarrassingly) enough, the habit has followed me into my adult years and is something that I still do to his day (down to the jewelry!).
At first this look was all grey and black. As I was standing in my apartment looking down at the perfectly laid out outfit I decided that it really needed a pop of something – hence the shocking pink hat and sunnies. I should be thanking my childhood self for getting the outfit planning habit engrained into my day to day.
This skirt is a favorite summer statement (yes, I just said summer). Lately I have been trying to repurpose some of my go-to seasonal styles in order to give them life in the other 9 months of the year. This outfit is a result. It also happened to be perfectly fitting for Valentine’s Day coming up this weekend – when I’m sure this hat will be making an additional appearance.
