Good morning from freezing cold NYC! Happy almost weekend and happy almost first big snowstorm of the winter and of 2016 (for the Northeast that is). Now that the weather has dipped below freezing it is seriously (finally) time for coats. So dust those bad boys off — they aren’t going to get the winter off after all! The fact that we are finally able to wear our beloved winter outer garments doesn’t quite muster the same excitement as the first 70+ degree day in spring, but still, let’s celebrate it, shall we?
New York City winters have taught me several important facts about dressing, and one of them is the art of layering. This cocoon coat is one of my favorite pieces to layer, because unlike most of my jackets, you can actually see what you’re wearing underneath. Well, the sleeves at least. Normally I wear a leather jacket underneath it because nothing says cool (and keeps you warm) like layers of leather. But I figured I might as well ease back into this whole winter dressing gig. So I’m dipping my toe in the water with this grey textured sweater. Oh, and these amazing Loeffler Randal lace up flats won’t be getting much wear outdoors after this weekend’s big snow storm. So they are having their day in the sun before several weeks of carpet only confinement until Spring. Here’s hoping this winter wonderland is as safe as possible!
Stay warm this weekend kids, enjoy it! xx
