Today, I bring to you, the best impulse purchase of the summer that you don’t need to feel guilty about (because, hey, it’s only $28!).
I discovered this set when my friend Amelia wore it to an after work going away party. It was a cocktail cruise on a boat and she looked like human sunshine in yellow gingham. There is something about being draped in a yellow smocked two piece set that makes a boat on the water sure look like your natural habitat. Naturally, I assumed in order to partake in said look, I would have to sell a small piece of my soul and make some pricey splurge purchase. So, you can image the euphoric feeling when I found out that I too could look like human sunshine for $28!!! I love discovering that some lust-worthy item is within reach and doesn’t actually have to break the bank. That is one of my favorite things about getting dressed and putting together the perfect look: price points aside, it’s all about how you wear it.
Now, let’s break down the details, shall we?
Gingham is not a trend that is newly popping up on the scene. However, I’m still not over it. And you shouldn’t be either. When you combine the print with the sunny color and the smocking details, this two piece set just feels like *summer*. So naturally I decided to pair it with my favorite trends of the summer.
The basket bag.
My current favorite accessory is this vintage basket bag borrowed from my momma. I am still VERY into the whole basket bag trend and I plan to continue to wear mine into the fall, so buckle up and get ready for baskets back to cashmere and mom jeans. Just the thought of it has me (almost) excited for cooler temps.
The flatform sandal.
This is a trend that I actually anticipate popping up a lot more in the coming months (in a variety of iterations). You may think I’m crazy and look a lot like I’m channeling Ginger Spice. But mark my words, the platform is having a major comeback.
Bracelets bracelets and more bracelets.
Who am I kidding! This isn’t a summer trend. This is an every day, every season trend. Bring them on, because more is more.
The statement earring.
I know that I have already dissected this particular trend to pieces here. BUT, I stand by my claim that this trend has some serious staying power.
Oh, I also ordered this dreamy gingham set in navy blue so expect to see that bad boy up on here soon. xx
