Happy Monday kids! I am finally feeling back to my normal self after being sick with the flu last weekend and it feels oh so good. This feel good thing that is happening may also be due in part to the fact that I said brb to NYC this weekend and headed to the beach. I am sitting on the plane back to Manhattan now and have that happy peaceful feeling that can only come from salty hair, sand in your shoes, and some fresh freckles. After a weekend of off the shoulder gauzy tops with pompom trim and bandeau bikinis it seems both boring and horrific to have to head back to the city where puffy coats and wool socks will more than likely still be necessary. We are in the dreaded transition time — between March and May when we are bored to tears of cable knits and cardigans – no matter how marvelously styled but we also almost certainly will catch pneumonia if we breakout out sparkly summer sandals.

Sooo my mission is simple: dress for winter but look like spring. In other words, battle the winter blues with good clothes. Easier said than done BUT I think I’ve done it with this backless dress x hi top sneaker x color blocked leather jacket combo. The backless-ness of the dress screams summer but the long sleeves and floor skimming hem are practical (and kewl). The sk8 sneakers keep me warm and allow for me to play runaway bride and confuse the sh*t out of people on the street (I’m KIDDING, you guys!). The sneakers are comfortable, warm AND confusingly appropriate with endless white pleats. Add the hooded leather jacket for warmth and mystery and BAM – I’m ready to go.

Feel free to jump on board and show this transition weather who’s boss.
