Holy hot! I know, I know I’m sick and tired of hearing about this heat wave but COME ON. It’s hotter than hot out there which has had me struggling with what to wear. Pants are just too much and a shirt – forget it. In this heat even a crop top feels constricting. But (unfortunately) we can’t walk around New York City in a bikini so clothes prevail… right?
Wrong! Or partially wrong at least. I’ve been wearing my bikini tops as make shift actual clothes recently and I am digging it. It gives off the right amount of I’d rather be at the beach vibe AND if you actually are headed to the beach, well then, you’re already suited up.
The challenge of looking cool in this heat has left me staring into my closet thinking what us NYC residing fashion-obsessed 20 something’s should never say out loud let alone think: ” I have nothing to wear”. It’s a flat out, bold faced lie. I have plenty to wear. I just don’t know what to put on that will make me feel cool AND look cool in this 90+ degree heat. I am bored to tears of sundresses and sneaks and even denim cut offs loose their edge after weeks on end. So recently when I was staring into my closet for an embarrassing amount of time I thought eff this and threw on a bathing suit top, skirt and grabbed my denim jacket before glancing in the mirror and running out the door. And I’m not going to lie, I was pretty pleased with the end result. So, if you too are struggling to keep your cool in this heat give the bathing suit top sans beach look a try, I dare you.
Be cool, kids.
