I can’t get enough of a dramatic earring moment these days. You would think that statement earrings would be reserved for a special event or as a fool proof way to spice up your favorite LBD. But recently every time I pick out my jewelry for the day I find myself gravitating toward them. I might even go so far as to say that I’m more into a crazy dramatic over sized earring than I am into bracelets at the moment (GASP!). Let’s be real though – I’ll never tire of wearing bracelets stacked as high as the eye can see.

But I digress, statement earrings have quickly become my favorite way to jazz up both daytime and evening wear. Like in this look, a casual sun dress normally reserved for the beach over a bikini is ready for much more than the sand when paired with the beaded over-sized drops dangling from my lobes. I threw on a wooden stacked heel lace up sandal to really seal the deal. And just like that, I successfully made this printed linen number ready to take on the mean streets of NYC. Because let’s be real, if the east coast heatwave doesn’t give way soon we are all going to have to resort to roaming the city streets in our beach wear.

It’s going to be weird when people start bumping into their coworkers in bikinis! And I don’t even want to think about the weirdness that will ensue on a crowded subway commute. Am I right!? Seriously though, something has gotta give.

I don’t mean to hate on summer in NYC. Those of you who know me, know that I have a special relationship with east coast summers. I’m particularly fond of summer weekends. But this weekend I was in San Francisco (I’m actually writing this 35,000 feet above Nevada on my flight home). And while people hate on SF weather in the summer, it sure was some pretty heavenly solace from the heat. I’m currently mentally preparing for the 100+ degree heat and thick as soup humidity that I’ll be returning to in 5 short hours. Even Napa’s mid 80 degrees this past Saturday was refreshing in comparison. Plus, San Francisco and Napa are really easy on the eyes.

Happy Tuesday kids – grab your statement earrings and let’s do this. After all, there are only a few short summer weekends left.
