I think workout gear should be something that you feel AND look good in. Because if you are like me…this is one section of your wardrobe that you actively live in. At the end of each week my laundry heap is roughly 80% gym clothes. So gym clothes better be rad as hell.

Right?

Right.

The activewear pieces featured in this post are favorites in my recent rotation. It’s funny how something as silly as the style of your spandex can motivate you to push yourself harder when working up a sweat. But hey, for me, it does. These pieces are all from the Bar Method which recently opened a studio in my hometown Fairfield, Connecticut.

Bar Method is a workout that I am admittedly hooked on. I am always looking for something to mix in with the cardio that I do and Bar Method has become a favorite. I have found that it is one workout class that builds strength, lengthens and tones muscles and improves flexibility. The latter, for me, is a miracle. The other amazing thing about Bar Method is that it’s not the type of exercise class that you master and then move on from in search of a new challenge. I have found that it actually gets harder the more that you hone in on your form.

I became hooked on Bar Method in NYC a few years ago when one of my very best friends introduced me to it. I was thrilled when I heard that a studio was opening in my hometown. I had a feeling it was going to become my mom’s new favorite workout class and couldn’t wait for her to try it after having to hear me talk about it for a couple of years. Not surprisingly, she’s hooked and going to the Bar Method in Fairfield has quickly become a favorite piece of our morning routine when I visit home. It is a great and healthy way to start the day, not to mention, the owners and instructors at the Fairfield studio are a special breed of stellar humans. They are the kind of people who make you smile without trying, even on your grumpiest of mornings. They are those people who are so insanely positive, upbeat and happy that they actually lift others up just by simply being. But the real kicker is that for every bit of positive energy they have they are equal parts genuine. And that, my friends, is something really special.
