This is one of my favorite looks that I wore to NYFW. I apologize for being a bit late in posting this. I was off to Hawaii right at the tail end of NYFW and then got a nasty cold when I returned to NYC. Needless to say, I have been on a bit of a hiatus! But I am officially back in action and am ready to take on fall and all of its cool layerable goodness.
I love this dress – the lace is so beautiful. But the slip that it came with was so – for lack of a better word – blah. It somehow made this amazing dress totally boring. So I’ve been wearing it with different things underneath it recently. This bodysuit alternative is definitely the most bold option I have gone with thus far. It is also my favorite. And I figure — it is really just like wearing a one piece bathing suit with a sheer coverup… right?
Would you dare to wear this on the streets of NYC? If you do, you’ll probably get some weird looks, just to warn you. But if you’re cool with that, I say go for it. It also feels very à la Katie Gallagher, who’s presentation I went to during NYFW. Some my favorite looks are below:
But back to my dress — the intricacy of it made me want to go for a different accessory moment than I usually do. Instead of the colorful elbow high bangle stack, I went with: an elaborate hand chain, lace choker, and vintage Chanel earrings. I also added my watch because I feel like this look deserves a time piece. I threw on my tried-and-true go to Adidas campus sneakers. The kicks are looking more beat up than ever (but I think they are cooler that way). The sheerness of the dress combined with the bodysuit makes the sneaker moment that much better. And, since it’s not quite jacket weather yet, we’ve got a few more weeks of baring some skin before it’s time to bundle up. Get out there and take advantage of the Indian summer sunshine.
