One staple of easy summer dressing is a great maxi dress. This one in particular is a personal favorite. It is perfect for a date night in this hot-enough-to-cook-on-the-sidewalks summer weather. The soft flowing fabric and champagne color just add to the appeal. The absence of a print keeps the outfit looking clean even after adding loads of accessories.
Speaking of, let’s talk accessories. The open neckline of this dress allows for a statement necklace to be the real focal point of the look – I chose this necklace wisely. The first time I saw it I knew that it had to be mine. The combination of the thick chain collar with the gold leaf details and crystal accents make me think that the piece must have been inspired by a Grecian goddess. Now onto the earrings. Normally I’m opposed to matching sets of necklaces and earrings (or at least of wearing the matching sets together). However, somehow this necklace/earring combo is an exception. I was surprised to find that when I added the earrings to the look I liked the necklace even more – they seem to somehow make it more regal (touché earrings). The upper arm bracelet and delicate gold braided bracelet were both passed down to me from my mom who wore them when she was my age. Every time I wear them I am reminded of photos that I have seen of my mom when she was younger wearing these bracelets. The upper arm bracelet is a favorite of mine – there is something so bold about it that I can’t get enough of. The box bag is another vintage clutch borrowed from my Mom’s collection. I have been getting a lot of mileage out of this white shoe/bag combo this summer. I finished the look with my favorite chunky tortoise Karen walker sunnies and a bold red lip.
I hope that everyone savored and enjoyed every moment of the last July weekend of summer 2014. Here’s to an amazing August!
