This kimono makes me want to go on a tropical get away. It is funny how an inanimate object can have that power. White flowing fabric + Indonesian-inspired florals + kimono shape = my ticket on a jet plane to somewhere tropical. Okay, at least it’s the closest I can get in an outfit. Lucky for me the weather has been in my favor this week – after last week’s relatively cooler days, this week has been positively balmy – dare I say tropical? I’ll admit the 85+ degree days do leave me wanting to flea the city before Friday rolls around, but even so: I am happy with this heat. Because after all, it is August and it is summer and that is how it should be.
This white top has quickly become part of my uniform this summer. I love the cut away back detail. It’s also great because it’s versatile: I have worn it to work under this blazer looking polished and ready to rock and then shed the blazer for post work dinner and drinks looking fresh and free. It made the transition from the 65 degree – seriously though, brrr – air conditioned offices to the 90 degree heat of the city streets easy as could be.
This neon lucite clutch is perfect – the only downside is the ability to see your phone notifications without even opening your bag – which let’s be honest, isn’t the best thing for a generation glued to their phones. I love everything I can do on my phone and truth be told I could be called a power user, but there are just times – dinner out, catching up with a long-time friend over drinks – where your focus needs to be 100% on a person, not an assemblage of silicon and plastic. Okay, back to the outfit! Finishing off this look I’ve layered on the punchy pink accessories – because, as in the world of bracelets, sometimes more is more.
Three summer weekends left people – let’s let summer 2014 go out with a bang!
