You guys, next week it will be August. If you are unclear, I am just as shocked and dismayed as you are at the sheer velocity that this summer is speeding by and escaping us. In rebellion of its elusiveness–or in appreciation of the Americana fervor of this summer month, I am keeping the red, white and blue that is my summer uniform alive.
Why do I support the patriotic nature of summer in America with such gusto you ask? I have been giving that some thought since I rarely wear red white and blue all at once in the non-summer months. And the answer that I keep coming back to is simple: because I can. It is in homage of my favorite season and all of the fun-amazing-cooler-than-cool activities that come with it. I have visions of paddle boarding, riding shotgun in a topless Jeep Wrangler, ferry rides, barbecues, biking down Bartlett, and beach sports dancing in my head. I plan on squeezing every last ounce of summer loving goodness out of the next few weeks and dressing like a firecracker is a small token of gratitude for all of that.
Here’s to the last *full* weekend in July! Meet ya at the beach – I’ll be the one in red, white, and blue!
Let’s do this.
