I am celebrating the city chill by breaking out my leather and fur accents. Nothing screams fall quite like leather and these Helmut Lang leather leggings are they type of piece that I patiently (or not so patiently) wait 6 months of the year to whip out of my dresser and throw on. I have paired them with my “Holy Swoon” tee that was an impulse purchase last winter when I was going through a serious graphic tee phase – honesty though, I was obsessed. I have completed the monotone look with my grandmother’s fur jacket. I love wearing this jacket and thinking about where it has been and what it has seen. My mind immediately goes to the glamour of years past – because my grandmother, if I do say so myself, is pretty fabulous.
Annnnd back to the present! New York City is funny sometimes with the change of seasons. It feels like two seconds ago you couldn’t look anywhere in this city without seeing a pumpkin or a stoop covered in faux spider webs. And then this weekend it was like BOOM! it’s officially the holiday season with Christmas decorations galore. Every store front I passed was decked out in full on holiday splendor – which don’t get me wrong, I love, but what happened to thanksgiving? Did New York City forget about November and one of my personal favorite holidays devoted to sharing in food and thanks with family and close friends? I haven’t made my thanksgiving pumpkin bread, or watched my brother-in-law ponder the dozen desserts we should make for thanksgiving yet! Like hello people, the thanksgiving day parade has NOT happened yet!
Anyone else have visions of football and pumpkin pie rather than sugarplums in their heads?
