Whelp it’s officially here: The Holidays. I don’t know how it happened. I could have sworn I was just lamenting with friends in a group text over the “what are we going to be for Halloween” debate and just before that, weren’t we talking about what we were going to pack for Nantucket? But low and behold, it is Thanksgiving week which means (among many other things) family, friends, food and football. Buckle up, kids!

The time leading up to, between, and around the holidays is one of my favorite times of the year (I say ‘one of’ because it’s in a tight race with summer – summer has some pretty rad weekends on its side so I’m calling it a very close tie). But this year, more than ever, the holidays seem to have snuck up on us. I was walking out of work in Soho to grab lunch just yesterday and I saw a man dressed as Santa Claus. I was a bit puzzled because I was wondering why this (far too lanky to play the part convincingly) man was dressed as Santa Claus on the streets of Soho on November 23rd. But I thought, hey, this is New York. And then someone from across the street yelled: “It’s too early, dude!”. Both the thin Santa and I laughed, because this friend from across the street voiced what everyone around us was thinking: it’s too early!

This bold testament to the fact that the holidays are indeed here got me thinking about what I’m going to wear for them this year. And one option that is always *so* tempting, particularly on Thanksgiving, is pajamas. And I think with this look, I’ve figured out how to get away with pajamas at Thanksgiving dinner. Pair your favorite silk PJ pants with your best textured cashmere sweater, thrown on a pair of pumps and voila! Just like that, you are holiday party ready (and simultaneously ready for the turkey coma that is more than likely imminent). The good news is, I think that this oversized cashmere sweater and these silky printed pants are more comfortable than my actual pajamas. I highly advise anyone who will be so bold to please join me in this liberatingly festive look this Thanksgiving.

Now I’m clearly mentally placing myself into holiday prep overdrive. And right on cue, I received an email from my mom about what my Thanksgiving dinner contributions are to be. The list that I will be baking includes: potato rolls (these literally take HOURS to make, so my angel of a father will be enlisted as sous chef), pumpkin bread, and a dessert (of my choice). If that type of heavy baking doesn’t get you in holiday mode then I don’t know what will.

If you need me I’ll be scanning the Internet for the best dessert recipes know to man (if you know of THE ONE, please send it my way).

Happy Thanksgiving to you and yours!
