Surprisingly or not so surprisingly, I’ve heard the never ending laments that actually accuse the women of New York City of wearing too much black – as though we do it out of habit or laziness. So I have taken it upon myself to try to explain or even support this black wearing that we so happily execute. Black looks good. Period. It just looks good. That fact is pretty hard to argue – have you ever met anyone who doesn’t look good in black? Exactly.

Personally, I find it almost obnoxious when people protest against us fans of black wearing in winter. Like, why shouldn’t I wear all black all winter long? It’s practical, comfortable and manages to look good even when your pasty skin hasn’t seen the light of day in seven months and your vitamin D deficiency is at an all time high. BUT it is harder to make a case for all black garb in summer, because in the summer you can wear pretty much any color and not look totally ridiculous. So why limit it to black? While I understand this argument and often times make it to myself when getting dressed – sometimes black just works. I feel like I can take on the world in an all black ensemble. Throw me shade when I’m in all black and I’m like, What!? I’ve GOT this. And it is a pretty common understanding that confidence is sexy. So, wearing black is sexy. Think about it.
