After getting used to spending so much time out of the city in the summer it always takes me a little while to get back into my fall groove in the NYC. I’ve been trying to think of a proper analogy. And this is what I’ve come up with: you know that feeling when you walk on the hot sand or scalding asphalt for the first time of the summer? It hurts more than it does by midsummer, right? And people will say something like “you don’t have your summer feet yet”. Whelp, that’s what it is sometimes like returning full time to nyc after a summer of beach weekends. That feeling is the physical manifestation of my mentality towards getting back into the concrete hustle. Weekend days now involve more brunch and less beach, which is sad. But let’s not forget, avocado toast is good too, you guys.

Jokes aside, it’s more than just avocado toast.

My weekends AND weekdays will now involve taking better advantage of the city that I call home. There is no more stifling heat or weekends away to call on as an excuse. For me, this means that I want to get food at my local favorites more often. Jack’s wife Freda and By Chloe — I’m coming for ya! During the week, I want to explore the streets of Soho in the early morning. I do love downtown NYC with all of my being. But there is something a bit overwhelming  about Soho on the weekend. I have discovered through living in the area and working in the heart of it, that there is something almost magical about Soho in the early weekday mornings. In stark contrast from the weekends, you just feel like you can breathe. I think that it is perhaps the dramatic difference that makes it so serene.

I highly recommend you add that to your NYC to do list — you can find me at Dean & Deluca on Broadway! xx
